Awards from the National Association for

TRUDEAU CELEBRATES 120 YEARS
IN BUSINESS
Trudeau Corporation, a leading supplier of
kitchenware and tabletop, is celebrating its
120th anniversary this year. Established in
1889 as an importer of fancy goods under the
name Genin Trudeau, the company evolved
into a large supplier of kitchenware and
housewares. Today their products are sold in
over 50 countries.
Trudeau kicked off their anniversary
celebrations with luncheons for customers
and colleagues during the Fall 2009 CGTA
Gift Show, where they also introduced a
number of creative and problem-solving
products for today’s increasingly value-conscious consumer.

ZOOTIQUE REMODELS WITH
GREEN METHODS
Back in June, The Toronto Zoo unveiled its
new gift shop, Zootique. The 3000-square-
foot store, redesigned by DMD Retail Design,
was revamped with the environment in mind.
Low-emission paint, low-energy lighting,
reconditioned fixtures destined for landfills
and signage made from biodegradable
polymers were all employed.
“With animal habitats around the world
threatened by climate change and human
impact we felt it was essential to bring
creativity and conservation together in this
project,” said David Milne, president of
DMD Retail Design.

ROMA HOME DÉCOR NOMINATED FOR
ARTS AWARDS
Roma Home Décor was recently nominated
for an ARTS Award in the wall décor category,
while its creative director, Maria Hoo, was
nominated for Designer of the Year. The
awards are an annual collaborative effort by
Dallas Market Center and the Accessories
Resource Team to recognize the best in the
decorative accessories industry.

an extensive renovation, Dave Werner’s
Cookworks store on West Broadway in
Vancouver was reopened recently. The
revamped store, which is celebrating its
10th anniversary, features a new contemporary
look, adjusted floor space, new displays and
a demo kitchen.
