A SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY
Sandra Avery, the owner of A Special Touch in St. John’s, Nfld., is
celebrating her 20th anniversary in business this year. In honour of the
milestone, Sandra is teaming up with the Health Care Foundation on a
variety of fundraisers which will raise money for women’s health
initiatives at the hospital, including much-needed medical equipment.

TEA BREWERY HONOURED WITH AWARD
Gwen Smith, the owner of The Tea Brewery, is celebrating a recent
Entrepreneurial Achievement Award from Lunenburg County. Judged by
the Bank of Montreal, the award was based on the company achieving
success through risk-taking, resourcefulness, visionary market analysis
and by its success at introducing new products and services.
Opened six years ago, The Tea Brewery offers close to 100
international teas and tea accessories at its Mahone Bay retail shop
and kiosk locations throughout Halifax.
“Many people are still unaware of the huge market surge being
experienced worldwide by specialty teas,” said Gwen. “We saw the
growth potential and decided to get in on the ground floor in
Atlantic Canada.”
To grow her company, Gwen is manufacturing her own unique
blends and packaging for both retail and wholesale markets.
