Economy Tops the List
The economy topped the list of issues retailers
were concerned about in September, with 17%
of retailers noting this as a concern. The
percentage was highest in Atlantic Canada at
21% and lowest in western Canada at 15%.

Wholesalers are Raising Prices
Most (78%) retailers have experienced price
increases from suppliers in the past year as a
result of higher energy costs. The majority –
43% – report increases between 6% and 10%.

Retailers Passing Along “Some”
of the Costs
The majority of retailers (59%) are passing along
“some” of these increased costs to consumers in
the form of higher prices, while 41% say they are
passing along “all” of the costs.
